URRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS

Communication Technologies, National Identity and Citizenship

by

Julianne Stewart

This project emerged from a larger nation-wide study of Italian immigrants in Australia and their work and cultural activities and links with Italy. The current project investigates the role played by various information and communication technologies in enabling first generation immigrants to maintain or extend links with their home countries and/or explore the public sphere in the new country. The project has produced several conference publications. This project is contributing an ICT angle to Prof. Don McMillen's project on Expatriate Identities, Citizen Security and State Jurisdiction.
