Dr.
Henk
Huijser
BA Hons, PhD
(Screen & Media Studies)
Before moving to USQ, Henk taught at QUT, The
University of Auckland and The University of Waikato. He is currently a
Lecturer in Learning Enhancement (Communication) in the Learning and
Teaching Support Unit (LTSU).

Henk’s research interests include
multiculturalism, educational applications of new media,
cosmopolitanism, race & ethnicity, Indigeneity, nationhood and national
identity, reality TV, and national cinemas.
Henk has published in The International Journal of
Diversity (www.diversity-journal.com),
M/C Journal (http://www.media-culture.org.au/),
Australian Mosaic, and Continuum. Most recently, he co-edited the
‘transmit’ issue of M/C Journal (http://journal.media-culture.org.au/0603/).
Current research includes an article called ‘Australian Idol versus
Cronulla: Whither the Postcolonising Nation?’ for The New Zealand
Journal of Media Studies, and a project entitled ‘The Post-Mabo
Generation: Indigenous Cultural Landscapes and Identity’.
Henk
is also working on two education related research projects: ‘Uses,
Applications and Future Directions of ALSOnline: Developing a
Pedagogically Sound Framework’ and ‘Creating Foundations for Success
beyond the First Year Experience: A Pilot Program of Learner-Centred
