Julianne is currently Head of the
Department of Mass Communication at the University of Southern
Queensland, where she teaches courses in Communication
technology and policy, the Peace and Conflict in the Media, and
Research methods and design.

Julianne's PhD was in the gendered construction of
communication technologies, and her Master's thesis applied a political
economy framework to the analysis of debates concerning the introduction
of television in Papua New Guinea. She has published in both the social
construction of human-technology relations and in political
communication.
